They're back on Earth

A peasant girl furiously drives a cart and horses through the forest on a dark and eerie night. Above, as if out of legend, a horrific Gargoyle pursues her, swooping down for the kill. But just then, she comes to a clearing where local farmers wait in ambush. As they fight the beast with torches and clubs, a lone priest steps out of the shadows. Crossbow in hand he takes a bolt and pierces his flesh, letting his blood coat the tip of the projectile. With one well-placed shot he fell the monster. Quickly he and the villagers force it into a subterranean catacomb and roll a massive boulder at the entrance, and seal the Gargoyle in for all time.

A rash of kidnappings of American tourist has brought CIA agents Ty Griffin and Allison Wells to Bucharest. The most recent kidnapping victim is James Sloan, son of United States Ambassador Wyatt Sloan, so the ante has been raised. The ransom pay off is bungled and the kidnapper's body has been found impaled on the spire of an infamous castle. As they begin to investigate the evidence points toward members of the local "Goth" movement.

Meanwhile, an American archaeologist is overseeing the renovation of a historic, earthquake-damaged churchc the same church that unbeknownst to all, now sits above the catacombs in which the Gargoyle was entombed.
As the archaeological dig continues, people close to it begin to mysteriously disappear. Photographs of the dig show what appears to be a massive hat wing. Also a hidden mural depicting ancient villagers fighting a Gargoyle in front of a local Monastery is discovered. The CIA agents join the archaeologist and go to see a monk who tells them that it wasn't a legend at all, that Gargoyles have been unleashed and must be stopped.
